Rafi’s Spicebox - an award-winning and dynamic, family run business built on the promise of providing good food for everyone - opens its first branch in Lancashire this week.

And Booths customers at its popular Burscough store can discover how Raffi's are reinventing Indian food; introducing new ways of thinking and new ways of eating.

So forget rich, oily dishes and be inspired by fragrant, colourful, tasty combinations - refreshing Indian meals with honest, handmade and healthy food! All you have to do is follow your nose to the rear of the store near the fishmongers!

The business is managed by Kevin and Lee Fernandez, two brothers with a passion for discovering great tasting food and sharing their culinary knowledge with the world. Kevin and Lee not only spend time inspiring and motivating the ever growing team of Rafi’s avid foodies, but they can also be found in the kitchen mixing up new recipes and serving home cooked food for the team to share over lunch time.

Their flair for delicious food is inherited from their mother, Rafi Fernandez, who started the business in 1989 when she opened the first shop selling handmade curry packs in Sudbury, Suffolk. Since then they have opened four other sites in York, Harrogate, Newcastle (Fenwick Food Hall) and Leeds, in the Kirkgate Market. Alongside the bricks and mortar shops, Rafi’s Spicebox have a popular mail order department which delivers curry packs all over the world!

The joint venture will see the introduction of a concession stand within Booths Burscough store, the first of its kind in Lancashire.

With the Burscough store being one of the newer sites for Booths and having a fantastic foodie community, the choice to integrate Rafi’s Spicebox here seems perfect. The teams are hoping to encourage a more dynamic, in-store experience for their customers who can choose from over 20 bespoke curry recipes and watch as your spices are hand-blended, fresh to order (and most importantly, to your preferred heat strength).

The Rafi’s Spicebox team will ensure you leave with the knowledge and confidence to cook your own meal at home with the best seasonal produce, fresh meats and fish available in the Burscough store. Their tailored service extends beyond that of a normal visit to a deli or supermarket with personal touches of meal plan recommendations, regular in-store tasters, exclusive cooking demonstrations and a huge backlog of recipe inspiration online, in their cookbook and seasonal recipe cards.
