Food for thought - how many drivers has Dominos had for local deliveries? Which is the best paying takeaway in Ormskirk? Which one has just launched and is promoting itself on Just Eat? Which well known town centre takeaway recently left Just Eat? Which takeaway has only just started promoting itself on FB? And which town centre chippy will now deliver to your home?
Answers tomorrow - but as lockdown lifts there are fears from established takeaways that soon there might not be enough business to go round in the Ormskirk area - or as one Chinese takeaway owner complained to QLocal's Roger Blaxall: "Everyone wants a slice of the pie."
It didn't take too long for places like The Cricketers, Peacock Inn and Two Cents Pizza among others to adapt their business model to offer food delivery - remember the recent QLocal story about VIP (very important pizza) deliveries from Two Cents? Cafes, too, got into the act with Bramleys afternoon teas a big hit.
Takeaways have also been busy on FB, too; the big £££ winners will be the likes of Just Eat and Food Hub who take a cut of every delivery order.
And the story doesn't end there with Dallas about to open on Aughton St - it, too will be offering takeaway services soon; the problem now is that there are not enough delivery drivers to go round!
Dixi on Green Lane's looking to recruit after expanding into Lancashire with its biggest ever shop that's six times larger than Ormskirk ... its new Widnes shop opened on Monday with a number of ex-Ormskirk drivers working there.
Once things return to normal (whenever that may be) will more fine dining be done at home rather than in Ormskirk?
