Sefton's urban sprawl continues to creep towards the borough border with sad news that Maghull's Mortons Dairies will be moving lock, stock and barrel - if Sefton planners approve a new housing estate off Kenyons Lane, Lydiate.
And it's not what you'd call a pint size plan - Bellway Homes plans to build 325 homes adjacent to Northway on land to the north of Kenyons Lane, between Liverpool Road and the A59 that'll mean Morton’s Dairies will be demolished with the business relocating elsewhere.
Bellway's planning application states: “The site is split into two distinct parts. The northern part comprises low-level maintained grass. The southern part is occupied by Morton’s Dairies which will relocate as part of these proposals.
“Throughout the layout design process, a key focus has been to ensure delivery of a new neighbourhood that integrates into the wider settlement.
“The vision was designed around existing and potential new green infrastructure to encourage community activity. The connection to the wider area has been embraced, reinforcing the gateway into the development.
“The development has been driven by the need to propose an appropriate scheme which logically integrates into the community of Lydiate. The layout has been formed to create a high quality residential development within the context of Lydiate.”
Sefton Council has not yet made a decision on the plans.
