Rainbow Hub's annual “Recycle your Christmas Tree” service saved people time and hassle last weekend - and raised £4,000 for the Mawdesley based charity supporting children and young people with physical and neurological disabilities.
A team of volunteer collectors and vans collected trees from the areas surrounding Rainbow Hub including Ormskirk, Chorley, Horwich, Blackrod, Shevington, Hesketh Bank, Tarleton, Burscough, Croston, Longton, Leyland, Lostock Hall and Bamber Bridge for a donation of £10 per tree.
Kat Nelson, the chjarity's Head of Fundraising told QLocal this evening: “This is our third year organising this event and we are pleased to be able to offer a service to our local community while raising funds at the same time.
"We had to do a lot of planning to comply with COVID-19 rules but we are delighted that it was such a big success.
"And we are very grateful for a fantastic group of volunteers and the support of Cleaner Gardens Ltd; Brysdales; Access4Lofts Blackpool and Liverpool North; Eccleston Plastering Services Ltd; Hughes and Son Complete Property Maintenance; Ormskirk Clock Tower Rotary Club; Tree Barn at Blackrod; Babcock International, John Cooper Recycling Services and Jambo Property Services.
"Without their help, especially at this difficult time, it would not have been possible.
"We would also like to thank everyone who shared and promoted this event and those who donated their trees to be collected.
"We receive no statutory funding and the pandemic has had a devastating effect on our events, so every penny counts and helps us continue provide and expand our services.
"Raising £4,000 is a fantastic start to the year!” she concluded.
