A well known local businessman died suddenly last week.

Dave Ireland had an electrical shop in the town centre, expanding from Church St. onto New Court Way as his business flourished.

He had a spark of genius when it came to marketing; the Advertiser carried his 'hidden' miniature logo every week with the offer of a cash prize to spotters.

And with the rise and rise of the internet, his business could boast some excellent reviews on the 'Which?' website, customers praising the quality of Ireland's service and repairs.

His funeral was held at Southport Crematorium last week with the Church St. shop closed on 24th February for family, friends and staff to attend.
