The Beaconsfield Monument

The Beaconsfield Monument stands at beginning of Moor Street, in front of the Golden Lion Pub. The monument is a statue of Lord Beaconsfield, alias the Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. His ideals were 'the maintenance of religion, of the estates of the realm and of the imperial ascendancy of the British Empire'. The Primrose League erected the monument in his memory in 1884.
