A popular Ormskirk shop is moving its business lock, stock and barrel to its new branch in Morrisons.
Timpson - and its legendary manager Burt Jones - will close on 28 February, 16 years after it opened.
Locals will remember it used to be Coombs, followed by Allied Shoe Repairs and then Mr. Minit in the years before it was re-branded.
In all that time, Burt's been a fixture of the town centre with locals popping in for a chat and to 'put the world to rights' while they had their shoes repaired, a key cut or sought his practical advice.
Now in his 70's, he's bound to find his niche in the smaller Morrisons shop that's just five minutes away but nonetheless he'll be a sad loss for the town centre.
Timpson's spokesman Chris Jones confirmed this morning that the shop was closing at the end of the month and that Burt was moving to Morrisons on Park Road.
Worryingly, it'll be the sixth business to close on Burscough St. in the last few weeks.

And yet more to come in the next few months
maybe it’s the council service charge on the building they disagree with ?

Probably the rent would be more of an issue than council charges, still can't help I don't doubt.
Out of interest, which are the 6 shops to have closed?
Thanks
